SYNOPSIS

Unfolding over the course of a late summer's day in the fabled resort town of Sintra, Portugal, FRANKIE follows three generations who have gathered for a vacation organized by the family matriarch (Isabelle Huppert).

In this fairy tale setting, the cast of characters—husbands and wives, parents and children, friends and lovers—are stirred by their most romantic impulses, and discover the cracks between them as well as unexpected depth of feeling.

SYNOPSIS

Jake is 12 years old in 7th Grade, pale and slender, likes to draw, and often seems to be a loner. When Jake's parents, Brian and Kathy, a workaday actor and a psychotherapist, inherit Brian’s family house in Brooklyn, the family decides to leave their cramped Manhattan apartment and return to Brian’s childhood neighborhood. Jake befriends Tony, a 13-year-old-going-on-30, whose single mother Leonor, originally from Chile, runs a dress shop in the storefront below.  The boys’ friendship develops around art, soccer, and video games, as their parents become increasingly engaged in a battle over rent and real estate. As the stakes rise, and Brian begins an eviction process for Leonor, the parents involve the boys by encouraging their separation. In protest, the boys jointly vow to give their parents the silent treatment.

SYNOPSIS

After nearly four decades together, Ben (John Lithgow) and George (Alfred Molina) finally tie the knot in an idyllic wedding ceremony in lower Manhattan. But when George loses his job soon after, the couple must sell their apartment and – victims of the relentless New York City real estate market – temporarily live apart until they can find an affordable new home. While George moves in with two cops (Cheyenne Jackson and Manny Perez) who live down stairs, Ben lands in Brooklyn with his nephew (Darren Burrows), his wife (Marisa Tomei), and their temperamental teenage son (Charlie Tahan), with whom Ben shares a bunk bed. In Last Address, filmmaker Ira Sachs (The Delta, Married Life, and the 2005 Sundance Grand Jury Prize winning Forty Shades of Blue), who first moved to the city himself in 1984, uses images of the exteriors of the houses, apartment buildings, and lofts where these and others were living at the time of their deaths to mark the disappearance of a generation. The elegaic film is both a remembrance of that loss, as well as an evocation of the continued presence of their work in our lives and culture.

SYNOPSIS

A strong blend of suspense, star-crossed romance and wry comedy of manners, Married Life is an unconventional human drama about the irresistible power and utter madness of love.

Harry (Chris Cooper) decides he must kill his wife Pat (Patricia Clarkson) because he loves her too much to let her suffer when he leaves her. Harry and his much-younger girlfriend Kay (Rachel McAdams) are head over heels in love, but his best friend Richard (Pierce Brosnan) wants to win Kay for himself.

Forty Shades of Blue tells the story of Laura, a young Russian woman living in Memphis with a much older rock 'n' roll legend, and the personal awakening she experiences in the wake of her unfortunate affair with his estranged son.

Starring veteran actor Rip Torn as Alan, Darren Burrows as his son, Michael, and Dina Korzun as Laura, the woman caught between them,Forty Shades of Blue was shot on location in Memphis, Tennessee - Sachs's hometown and location of his first feature, The Delta.

Rip Torn's magnetic performance in the film is a return to the kind of lead roles he was known for in the 70s in films like Payday, The Man Who Fell to Earth, and the seminal Coming Apart. Dina Korzun takes her first role in an American film, a stunning follow up to her award-winning performance in Pawel Pawlikowski's Last Resort.

The producers of Forty Shades of Blue are Margot Bridger (The Delta, Jesus' Son, Sidewalks of New York), Jawal Nga (The Clearing), Mary Bing, Donald Rosenfeld, and Sachs. In The Delta, the doomed romance between Lincoln, an affluent white teenager, and Minh, the immigrant son of a poor Vietnamese woman and black G.I.. moodily evokes the wide space between dreams, desires, and fulfillment in post Vietnam War America. The setting is a little-seen, little-known Memphis, a town with a slipping regional identity filled with bars, clubs, and nameless pool halls. It's a city where kids get through their nights by drinking and doing drugs and gay men struggle with questions of personal identity and fulfillment. When Lincoln and Minh set off on a boat down the Mississippi, it's just another in a long series of failed escapes. A moody tale that winds its way toward a tragic conclusion, The Delta, one festival programmer has written, "holds your attention in the same way that snakes are said to hypnotize their prey."

A portrait film of a purposefully unsettling kind, starring Dominique Dibbell of The Five Lesbian Brothers. The exact identity of the redhead at the center of Lady is impossible to pin down. Is she a woman playing a man playing a woman, or more specifically, a lesbian playing a gay man playing a heterosexual woman? This purposeful ambiguity invites the audience to question the blurred parameters of sexuality, desire, and female identity.
